Outreach

Community Outreach Opportunities

We have an annual collection of coats and blankets for the homeless beginning in the fall.  They are taken to Tent City.  In addition, we take part in the Toys-for-Tots program each year for the US Marine Corp.

Helping Hand Ministry

We give out vouchers that can be redeemed at the South Plains Food Bank on Thursdays from 5:00 – 6:30 p.m. We also distribute limited bags of food for those who do not qualify for vouchers. Monetary and food donations are always needed to help with this ministry.

Outreach Events

Relationship Blessing

Each year, the Sunday before Valentine’s Day, couples who consider themselves in a relationship gather for a blessing by the pastor.

Holy Week and Easter

Holy Week events include a Seder meal on even years, a Maundy Thursday service on odd years, and a Good Friday service which reminds us of the sacrifice Christ made for us.  Sunday Easter events include a Sunrise Service in Clapp Park, an Easter Breakfast, a celebratory worship service at 11:00 a.m., and an Easter Egg Hunt.

Cinco de Mayo Celebration

For Cinco de Mayo, we celebrate our diversity with a special worship service, a lunch, and other activities from the Hispanic culture.

Fourth on Broadway Parade

Each year we create a float for Lubbock’s Fourth on Broadway Parade.  Many church members and friends ride on the float or walk beside it.  It is always a great opportunity to share our ministry with the Lubbock community.

MCC Annual Garage Sale

The MCC Annual Garage Sale is our major fundraiser for our church. Each year in September we sell donated items and food to the Lubbock Community. Your donations are always welcomed and needed.

Miracle on 34th Parade

This is the annual Christmas Parade that is held on 34th Street in Lubbock.

Coming Out Service

National Coming Out Day is October 11th each year. As we share our coming out stories, it brings hope and strength to our community. We honor the day by having people share their coming out stories in our designated Coming Out Service each October.

Fall Carnival

Our annual Fall Carnival is a well-attended event each October for families in the Lubbock community.  We provide a bounce house, cakewalk, and concessions, and carnival games with prizes and candy for children of all ages.

Thanksgiving Dinner

We gather for Thanksgiving lunch at the church each year on Thanksgiving Day at 12:00 PM.  The church provides the turkey and the attendees bring the side dishes. It is a wonderful time of good food and fun fellowship for anyone who would like to attend.

Christmas Caroling

One of our favorite things to do at Christmas time is caroling to some of the local nursing homes and homebound church members. We will carpool to the homes to sing Christmas carols and spread Christmas cheer.

Christmas Eve Candlelight Service

Our Christmas Eve Candlelight Service is a beautiful and meaningful way to usher in Christmas.

Kwanzaa

Kwanzaa is an African American and Pan-African holiday which celebrates family, community, and culture. We celebrate each year with a worship service devoted to the seven principles of Kwanzaa.
